Technology and Innovation
Natis uses a mix of selected variable-grain ceramic microspheres with an exclusive non-volatile water-based binder. These hollow microspheres, produced at high temperatures, effectively block the flow of heat due to their inherent thermal insulation capacity.

1. How does the Natis nanotechnology thermal insulation system work?
The Natis system uses ceramic microspheres (measured in microns) with a vacuum inside, embedded in a paint or skimming compound with a unique chemical composition. These microspheres effectively block the flow of heat through multiple mechanisms:
- Thermal reflection (main mechanism): The microspheres act as a heat shield, reflecting a significant portion of the incoming thermal radiation.
- Heat absorption and dissipation: The ceramic material absorbs some of the heat and dissipates it efficiently, further reducing heat transfer.
- Reduction of heat conduction (secondary mechanism): The vacuum inside the microspheres hinders heat transfer by conduction.
Traditional insulation materials, such as EPS or mineral wool, rely primarily on thickness to slow down the flow of heat, and therefore need structural intervention.
2. What are the advantages of NATIS?
- Significantly thinner application: a few millimetres of Natis can provide insulation equivalent to several centimetres of traditional materials, saving space and reducing the use of materials.
- Breathability: Natis prevents the formation of condensation and mould, unlike many traditional insulation materials.
- Ease of application: Natis can be applied like a paint or skim coat, requiring less time and skilled labour than installing bulky insulation.
- Environmentally friendly and resistant product. NATIS has no toxic components, unlike many traditional materials, and is very durable (whereas all traditional insulators are brittle)
3. Is Natis only intended for new buildings or can it also be used in existing ones?
Natis is suitable for both new construction and retrofit of existing buildings. Its subtle application makes it ideal for renovations where the addition of traditional insulation might be impractical or would result in significant increases in cost and construction time.
